We are delighted to share some wonderful news. A long-standing JBT student who has been receiving part-funded guitar lessons with Harmonics Music has successfully secured a music scholarship at Merchant Taylors’.
The student, whose guardian has requested that they remain anonymous, began their part-funded music lessons through JBT in September 2023. Since then, they have made remarkable progress, flourishing both musically and in their personal development.
Their guardian shared the following reflection:
We would like to thank JBT and all the team involved, for the support you provide through your trust. Recently, we contacted Daniel Taylor-Sanford to let him know how student has been progressing with his weekly lessons at Harmonics Music Store in Crosby, with his tutor Ranj. It’s made a considerable difference in his young life - building his confidence and ability by achieving his goal to learn to play the guitar.
He’s played in front of audiences at school at Headteachers request, who likens him to a cool Paul Weller. He plucked up the courage to give a solo performance - playing 2 songs to backing tracks at Bootle Town Hall on stage in front of a large audience. He won an award at Sefton Superstars for his achievement.
He is very excited at this moment in time to have been offered a scholarship for Merchant Taylors' School. He worked hard to achieve this, working through the admission process to gain admission. It appears to be giving him strong values, passion and is inspired to succeed with this great opportunity.
Everyone at JBT would like to extend our sincere congratulations to this very talented young person on their achievement. We are humbled and honoured to have supported them on their journey, and we wish them every success as they embark on this exciting new chapter.
Stories such as this highlight the transformative power of music and reinforce the importance of ensuring that every young person has the opportunity to explore their creativity, develop their skills, and reach their full potential. At JBT, we remain committed to removing barriers to opportunity and supporting young people to access high-quality creative education, regardless of their background or circumstances.
