Help us keep creativity accessible: why regular donations matter

Every month, JBT supports opportunities for young people to learn, create, rehearse and develop their skills. From lessons and workshops to rehearsal space and creative projects, the support we provide comes with a real cost, and regular donations play an incredibly important part in helping us meet that cost.

Each month, we spend approximately:

• £500 on music/creative lessons

• £200 on rehearsal and studio space

• £200 on workshops and activities

• £100 on other programme costs

  
  

That means it costs us around £1000 every month to provide these opportunities. As we support more young people, that figure continues to grow.

In 2025, we received around £1,700 through regular monthly donations. That works out at an average of approximately £140 per month. Compared to our average monthly programme costs, regular donations currently cover around 15% of what we need each month. That leaves a gap of approximately £860 every month that we need to fund through fundraising events, grants, sponsorships and other donations. We are incredibly grateful for every person who already supports us, some of whom have been donating monthly since we were founded, but increasing the number of people giving a small amount regularly could make a huge difference.

A reliable monthly income is vital to securing the future of the Jacob Billington Trust and ensuring we can continue creating opportunities for young people.

You don't need to make a huge donation to make an impact. If 10 people donated £5 a month, that would give JBT an additional £600 every year. If 25 people donated £10 a month, that would provide £3,000 every year. If 50 people donated £10 a month, together they would provide £6,000 every year towards lessons, rehearsal spaces, workshops and other opportunities for young people. For the cost of a couple of coffees each month, you can become part of something much bigger.

We know that, for a lot of people, money is tight. So we want our supporters to understand what their donations make possible.

In 2025, JBT funded:

• 600 hours of music lessons.

• Over 400 hours of rehearsal space.

• £1700 worth of places on creative arts courses.

• 400 free tickets for the Plaza Community Cinema.

  
  

Behind every one of those numbers is a young person who was given an opportunity to learn, create or perform.
